learning log November 23 2011
topics/what we did today
today in the first block we started out looking at our blogs and how to write what I'm doing now which is writing about what we did in class so people that were away can look at this and sill finish the homework so there is no reason to come to class and say "Ms Lees I couldn't do my because i was away."Next we did a "heart map" which was a big heart on your paper that had a list of what was important to you and memories that were in your mind( it didn't have to be in a heart form it could just be a list) .There had to be at least 25 -30 ideas on it more would be recommended because we will use it for reference when are writing stories. In the second block today we went over the definition of paragraphs next we looked at the types of paragraphs. Then looked at Narrative paragraphs how to write one is 1 begin with the incident and avoid a long preamble.Eg if you tell about a boating accident omit other details like getting out the boat and putting it in the water.2 is interesting because it includes significant details rather than general statements.3 moves towards a climax then ends.then we looked at some examples of narrative paragraphs and had to identify what it is really about and some things that made it really detailed example the three-O' clock bell rang. Then we looked at descriptive paragraphs the key things that descriptive have to have are it has to paint a picture. the purpose is to describe in detail and let the reader "see" a particular person or place and use all five senses example hearing, seeing and touching that was what we did in two blocks.

Learning intention
The learning intention was first to show you how the learning logs should look.Next was making the to give us ideas for writing future stories and to give us an idea for the descriptive paragraph and the narrative paragraph instead of have to use the ideas on the page that was handed out.I like that Ms Lees did that because then we can have our own topic so we can have more of our ideas at least that's what i think :).Next we did the narrative and descriptive paragraphs the learning intentions was to learn how to write narrative and descriptive paragraphs and so when we (the students) need to know the difference between narrative and descriptive paragraphs we all do.

Muddy or Marvy?
I was Marvy today about the heart mapping all you did was write down things that you remember well and things that are important to you.The blog i was i little muddy about that because i didn't know what to write but then i looked at sara's learning log/blog and was like OK i get it now!so all you do is really do the same thing as a learning log but on the Internet.
The narrative and descriptive paragraphs i was marvy about it. What you do is just write something that moves toward a climax and then ends and begin with a incident and avoid a long preamble for the narrative paragraph. For the descriptive paragraph your paragraph has to paint a picture, describe in detail and use all the five senses.Mostly i think i was marvy.

Homework
-do a descriptive paragraph but only if you have not do it yet
-do a narrative paragraph which everybody should do

The next flex time for Ms Lees is tomorrow so don't forget because the next time there is flex is next Thursday!!!!

  3. umm... I think that in the what we did section, you kinda copied straight out of the handout and I am not sure if you were supposed to do that. And in your reflection/connections part you were not only supposed to do "Muddy/Marvy" but also connections and reflections. Overall, good job.
