What we did
Today, at the beginning of class, Ms. Lees checked our homework which was the persuasive
exercises and the note-taking handout. After checking the homework and stamping
the ones that were completed, she gave us a “Questions and Answers Relation” or
“QAR” booklet for us to complete. In class, we were supposed to first finish
our note-taking handout if we did not complete it, then we were supposed to
finished the “QAR” booklet and finally, we were required to do an outline, mapping,
and Cornell note taking on some pages on the History textbook. You need to use
the text to decide how many outline you make per section. She did not complete
any more portfolio conferences, I think.
Learning Intentions
We did the homework check because Ms. Lees wants us to all finish our homework and also so
she knows who does their homework and who does not. We did the note-taking so
we know how to take proper notes so it would help us in review in all the
subjects as note take is sometimes a pain. The “QAR” was for two things. One,
we learned about the different types of questions on a textbook and just
questions in general and their difference. This is good for choosing how
detailed you want to answer a question. Two, we were doing this on our own with
no help from Ms. Lees so we are practicing self-study skills.
Reflections/Connections
I think that I am pretty “marvy” today because I can categorize all the questions and answer
them. Also I’ve finished my note-taking handout. The note-taking and the QAR
are useful in all our subjects because we need to take notes in most of them
and we are going to be writing tests for all of them as well.

Sorry
ReplyDeleteI posted a little late...
It's okay. Thanks for taking Trevor's day.
ReplyDeleteI would be *ahem* VERY honored to do the DOUBLE BLOCK DAY!!!
I like how you are working together - even impressed with your more persuasive tone in suggesting Sara have the "honour" of posting tomorrow - sounds a lot better for Sara to accept the "honour" than get upset about being ordered to post doesn't it? Well done!
ReplyDeleteI also like how you are attaching the Google doc for your group members to see what is on the test if they have not checked my blog.
One tip - Learning intentions should be more about what skills or content you are learning that will be useful / transferable beyond gr 8. They are not really about what I / the teacher wants.
