What We Did
Today at the start of class we discussed a little about the 30 days challenge. Soon, we were split into groups with people we usually do not work with and it was usually a person with a stronger responses with a person with weaker responses. We critiqued and amended our Ch.3 and Ch.4 responses to meet the criteria that Ms. Lees talked about when we were assigned the questions. We also talked about how changing the word can make the person listening feel different. For example, if we were correcting the work, then it sounds like we are fixing our partner's mistakes, however if we change it to amend, then it sounds like we are improving upon what is already a good piece of work. At the end of the class we were given some time to do the Ch.5 questions for Wednesday.
Learning Intentions
The grouping up with different people was for us to know how to work with someone who we did not know or usually hang out with. This was also to familiarize people in the class. This practices our collaboration skills and also forces us to get out of our circles and sometimes that is all you need to make new friends.
Amending our responses with another person is a good thing because it helps everyone see their own faults and to adjust them accordingly. The people who are not as good as their partner can learn a lot from their partner just by looking at it or by asking them some questions. The ones who were better can also learn by teaching as teaching requires a higher level of thinking.
Connections/Reflections
I thought that my answers were actually quite complete yet was quite a few things that Ms.Lees pointed out that I had to improve on. For example, I had to explain a lot of the statements I gave. Working with my partner was kind of awkward because I saw a lot of mistakes and I was not quite sure if I should point all of them out because that might hurt her feelings yet I thought that if I did not I would not be helping her either. In the end I did mark all the mistakes.
The ability to give constructive criticism is going to be used in many other subjects and it helps others improve without making them feel bad.
Homework
We had to finish the Ch.5 questions.

  1. Great job on the tips! That really stood out for me. Did you think some of them up, or did you get them from class?
In the Learning Intentions section I noticed the you had some unexplained pronouns in the last 2 sentences. You used "it"... and maybe "the ones" could be replaced with "the people"?
Just a few things to watch out for but overall your posting is consistently good :)
Also, great job with the paragraphing in this post! I can tell that you really learn from all the constructive criticism and suggestions.
